Carrigaline & District Lions Club recently made a presentation to Rev. David Armstrong who is leaving Carrigaline after serving the community for the past 11 years. Rev. Armstrong is returning to Northern Ireland with his wife June. Club President John Doran thanked Rev. Armstrong for his support of Lions events over the years and also for his involvement in Carrigaline community during his term here. The President also commented on the Rev. Armstrong’s well-known and brave work for peace and reconcilliation in Northern Ireland. Rev. Armstrong responded by saying that he had enjoyed his time in Carrigaline and thanked particularly his good friend Fr. Bertie O’Mahony P.P. who was also present. He said that he had made many good friends in Carrigaline and he was sorry to be leaving. However, he is looking forward to returning to Northern Ireland where he intends to continue his work of reconcilliation among the communities there.
