Cycle Classic 21st Anniversary
The Carrigaline & District Lions Club held their 21st Cycle Classic on the 6th of October 2012. As ever, the event was very well supported and 120 cyclists set off from Carrigaline heading for Kenmare on a beautiful sunny day with little or no wind – a perfect day for cycling. A food stop was provided after Ballyvourney near the County bounds. With any event of this nature, safety is of paramount importance and members of the club turned out in force to ensure the safety of participants. Many of the cyclists chose to stay in Kenmare overnight and were accommodated in the Kenmare Bay hotel where the cycling dinner was held on Saturday evening. All proceeds of this charity event go to local charities including Marymount Hospice. Over the 21 years of this event, over €300,000 has been raised for Marymount Hospice and an additional €300,000 has been distributed to other local charities. Carrigaline Lions Club would like to thank all the cyclists who took part for their generous contributions. A special thanks also to our main sponsor, Victoria Cross Cycles for their generous support and assistance with the event. See Photos of the event here.
