Cycling Classic raises €38,000

lionsclub300108-4285-low-res.jpgMembers of Carrigaline & District Lions Club recently presented cheques totalling €38,000 – the proceeds of the 2007 Cycle Classic – to various local and international charities at a reception held recently at Beamish & Crawford. The event was well attended by representatives of the charities involved, members of the Carrigaline Lions and Leos and  members of the recently formed Lions club at Cork Institute of Technology. Lions District Govenor, Pat Connolly, also attented the event where he praised the work of the event organisers and thanked everyone who helped make it such a success.  Next year’s event will take place on October 11th. Over the years, the event has raised over €450,000 and next year we hope to top the €0.5 million mark.

3930-low-res.jpgWork has now started on our latest housing project which aims to build 10 houses for older members of the community who are not in a position to provide accommodation for themselves. Funding for the new development will be provided by fund raising efforts on the part of Carrigaline & District Lions Club and from monies received from the Department of the Environment. These monies have been raised through various activities mainly focussed in the Carrigaline area and the support and generosity of members of the local community and beyond is greatly appreciated.
